DARK EARTH

Darkly organic strings and prepared pianos creak and whine on the cataclysmic new record from Heretic. Dark Earth draws on ecological themes, blending aspects of psychological horror with nature, in all its power and ruthlessness.

Gothic and guttural, Heretic uses experimental cello techniques that feel violent and raw, marrying them with analog synthesizers that bubble and squeal. Deeply uneasy but with moments of true beauty, the composer also works with vocals for the first time. Occult-like, staccato incantations make a chilling feature at potent moments. An earthy, mycological chamber work, Dark Earth heaves with nature's force.
